What is the Red Barn Foundation?
The Red Barn Farm Education Foundation (alternatively referred to as the Irish Family’s Agriculture Education Foundation) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Stanfield. Established by the owners of Red Barn Farm the foundation focuses on providing agricultural and animal education to the community at little to no cost.

Red Barn Farm Educational Foundation: Teaching the Next Generation Where Food Really Comes From
At Red Barn Farm Educational Foundation, our mission is simple but powerful: to reconnect children, families, and communities with the land, the animals, and the agricultural traditions that sustain us all. In a world where many young people grow up without ever stepping foot on a farm, we believe hands‑on learning is the key to preserving the future of agriculture — and inspiring a deeper respect for the food on our tables.
A Farm Classroom Like No Other
Every day at Red Barn Farm, visitors experience agriculture in a way that is real, engaging, and unforgettable. Our farm is home to a variety of rescued animals, each with their own story and purpose. These animals are not just part of the scenery — they are teachers.
Children learn how to care for them, understand their needs, and appreciate the responsibility that comes with raising livestock. Whether it’s brushing a gentle cow, feeding the goats, or learning why chickens are such important contributors to a farm ecosystem, our animals help students build empathy, confidence, and curiosity.
Meet Our Simulated Cow: A Hands‑On Milking Experience
One of our most popular educational tools is our Simulated Cow, a life‑sized teaching model that allows students to learn how milking works — without needing a live dairy cow.

This interactive experience helps children understand:
- How dairy cows are milked
- Why proper handling and care matter
- How milk travels from the farm to the fridge
- The science and skill behind dairy production
For many students, this is the first time they’ve ever seen how milk is collected. It sparks questions, conversations, and a new appreciation for the farmers who work hard every day to feed their communities. After the Simulated Cow demonstration, the visitors are allowed to meet, touch and feed treats to a real cow named DOLLY.
Rescued Animals With Real Stories
Our rescued animals are at the heart of our mission. Many come from situations where they needed safety, care, and a second chance. At Red Barn Farm, they become ambassadors for compassion and agricultural education.
Students learn:
- Why animal welfare matters
- How responsible farming practices protect livestock
- The difference between myth and reality in modern agriculture
- How every animal — even those who cannot produce milk or offspring — still has value and purpose
These stories help children understand that farming is not just about production. It’s about stewardship, respect, and connection.
Teaching Where Food Really Comes From
In today’s world, it’s easy for kids to think food comes from grocery stores instead of farms. Our programs bridge that gap by showing the full journey:
- How crops are planted, grown, and harvested
- How livestock contribute to food systems
- Why soil health, water conservation, and sustainability matter
- How farmers work with nature, not against it
Through hands‑on activities, demonstrations, and guided lessons, students leave with a deeper understanding of agriculture — and a sense of pride in the farmers who feed America.
Inspiring Future Farmers, Leaders, and Thinkers
Red Barn Farm Educational Foundation is more than a farm. It’s a place where children discover new passions, families learn together, and communities reconnect with the roots of agriculture.
By combining rescued animals, interactive tools like our Simulated Cow, and immersive farm education, we are shaping a generation that understands — and values — where their food comes from.
We believe that when children learn to care for the land and the animals, they grow into adults who care for their communities and the world.
